Dear parents

Over the last week Lee and I plus some of our black belts have been putting together short videos for students to copy and repeat to make sure over the next few months we are all still progressing in our learning.  You’ll start seeing these on our YouTube channel (just click the link on the home page) over the next few weeks.

We have also been working on the best way to deliver some virtual sessions.  We have decided to use the ZOOM platform and all you need to do is download the app then click the links which will be posted here on the message board plus our Facebook page 10 minutes before the class starts.  We’ve delivered a few test sessions which have gone well, there are a few limitations but that is to be expected.  All we ask is if everyone puts in their maximum effort they will benefit and progress from the free classes.

There will be a full weekly schedule delivered by different coaches so you can take part in as many as you like so please keep your eyes open.

Remember.....no failure only learning

Thanks
The Kensho Team

Dear Parents and Students

First of all, I hope everyone is well and staying safe at this time of great uncertainty.

I’d like to take the opportunity of letting all the parents know since we started our own association last year which has enabled us to set our own syllabus, the improvement of the students and overall enjoyment of delivering the classes for myself, James and Lee has been brilliant.  Which makes it all more disappointing that all classes have been suspended as per government guidelines/school closures, but it was the right thing to do at the right time for the greater good of the British public.

There are just a few things I wanted to share with you but if anyone does have any questions please don’t hesitate to email or contact me, I have plenty of time on my hands!!  I say that, this morning I’ve played NBA2k20 (lost by 8 points) and done some drawing with my son, built a den, melted chocolate to make Mother’s Day hearts and crushed ice for slushes with my daughter, plus take the dog for a walk for an hour…….but it’s been really nice!

Key information I’d like to pass on…

COVID19 has effected classes in some schools more than others therefore, however may classes you have personally missed for whatever reason or been cancelled due to the school closures you can Catch Up these classes when every you like at either at our Consett Dojo at 6pm on a Monday or our Central Dojo on the Team Valley (classes most nights), just come along and train hard once we are through to the other side (please email for further details).
Even though I love taking the classes tying 100 belts a week isn’t my favorite part of the lesson 😊  Therefore please please please could I set some homework and get all students to learn how to tie their karate belt, please see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3j- for a simple step by step guide.
Regarding future gradings – I did have quite a few students ask if they would miss their grading this term and to be honest at the time I didn’t know.  Please tell the students once we know when the schools are re-opening we’ll make an informative decision at that point.
Finally, I’m sure parents will be looking for things for the children to focus on so learning their current and previous Kata’s would be great.  please see https://www.youtube.com/user/KenshoKarate/videos  they are all in order starting with Heian Shodan (Currently White/Orange), Nidan (Red), Sandan (Yellow), Yondan (Green), Godan (Purple), Tekki Shodan (Purple & White strip) and for all Brown belts it’s Bassai Dai.  But please text with any questions.

Thank you for all your kind messages of support, I’m sure we will be back stronger for the experience, where we will continue to train hard, learn loads and have fun doing so!!

Stay Safe and see you on the other side, call me anytime if I can help with anything.
